It is that time of the year again, the hardest part of the season, The Preseason.

This document will provide the basis of the pre season, within is a schedule, details of drills and some additional information. Note, this is not set in stone, it is flexible.

We need to get our players in to the Football Mode again and additionally that means improving on last season.

The preseason dates are as below:-

Tuesday evenings 20:30 – 22:00 at RSL (Astroturf).

24th, 31st July – 7th , 14th, 21st, 28th August – 4th and 11th September.

Saturday day time 11:30 – 13:00 at RSL (Grass)

28th July – 4th, 11th, 18th 25th August

The later sessions 11th , 18th & 25th August will be for those players not involved in pre season matches, as this will vary from XI to XI.

This preseason covers eight Tuesday sessions and some additional Saturday sessions, so these will need to be intense and challenging to the players. So this brings up four areas that we the club need the players co-operation.

Commitment

Attend every Tuesday training session.

Saturday session are optional.

Time Keeping

Do not be late! Turn up 15 minutes early!

Be prepared, Drink, Clothing & Shin pads.

Personal

Preseason is a personal thing, you need to have drive  to improve your fitness levels.

Work on your own, on days other than the club training days.

Be challenged by the exercise and by competition with your peers.

Nutrition

Cut back on the alcohol.

Eat sensible E.G Carbohydrates, Proteins

Hydrate, take on fluids prior to training and games. Small amounts period of time.

(Remember if you are thirsty before you start, then you are already dehydrated).

Understanding.

The context and reasoning behind the sessions and drills should be explained to the players, as last year some do not understand what we are trying to achieve.

Comments

Preseason is hard and some  people do not like attending. We need to push members to attend as we can build spirit and togetherness at these sessions. At the end of season skippers meeting, I took one thing of disappointment from this, that a lot of our players do not play for the club, it is about a team or themselves. We should be looking to make our club stronger not only in winning but as a whole unit, all members pulling together. We all need to have the same goals and be driven by the same desires.
